Apple Harvest Day
Benjamin E. Mays Elementary Academy Celebrates Autumn with Apples
Benjamin E. Mays Elementary Academy celebrated Apple Harvest Day with a visit from Farmer Margo, who brought delicious apples for our students to taste and learn about. We're so grateful to have such strong partnerships at Mays, like the one we have with our garden team and Aramark, who help us bring unique opportunities like this to our students. The village model at Mays is one of the things that makes our school so special, and it's great to see our teachers collaborate with partners to bring new knowledge and experiences to our scholars.
One of the goals of today's celebration was to introduce our students to the concept of Farm to School, and to make nutrition and healthy eating fun for them. We know that these things are important for their daily lives, and we want them to enjoy the process of being healthy. We also celebrated Fall Festival with Trunk-a-Treat, apple decorating, and a character parade - it was a day full of fun and learning.
At Mays, we believe that the work we do will last for generations, and we take pride in helping our students become good citizens through the Farm to School model. Thank you to everyone who made today possible!
