Purdue University Field Trip

Discovering Science and Agriculture at Purdue

On Tuesday, April 23rd, students from Martin Luther King High School in Chicago took an exciting field trip to Purdue University in Indiana for a Farm-to-School event. They explored the College of Agriculture and Science, engaging in hands-on activities and learning about food, science, and agriculture. A highlight of the trip was conducting experiments, applying classroom knowledge in a practical setting. Students even tasted grasshopper powder protein, an innovative ingredient used in certain foods, broadening their understanding of sustainable food practices and alternative food sources.

The day included a delicious lunch provided by Purdue University representatives, allowing students to relax and bond. During the meal, they enjoyed a presentation on career opportunities in science, nutrition, and agriculture, inspiring them to consider future pathways in these fields.
